We take the privacy of our supporters and visitors to our website very seriously. Who are we?

The Ngoko Charitable Trust is an unincorporated Trust, constituted under a Trust Deed dated 25 May 2015 and is a registered charity in England and Wales (registration number 1163965). The purpose of the Trust is the prevention or relief of poverty in Zimbabwe by providing or assisting in the provision of education, training, healthcare projects and all the necessary support designed to enable individuals to generate a sustainable income and be self-sufficient.

At present the sole project of the Charity is Lesedi School & Clinic and the Ntaybayengwe Community, near Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

When you provide personal information, the Ngoko Charitable Trust is defined as the ‘controller’ of this data.

What is the purpose of this privacy policy?

This privacy policy explains what personal data we may collect from you including how and why we do it.

We will only process your personal data as set out in our privacy policy or otherwise notified to or agreed by you or as we are otherwise permitted to do in accordance with UK data protection legislation.

What personal data will we collect from you and how will we do this?

To respond to an enquiry, donation, school visit or child sponsorship request, we need to collect personal data from you. When we refer to personal data, we mean any information which relates to an identified or identifiable individual.

Personal data collected by us may include your full name, postal address, telephone number and email address. We keep a record of any amounts donated and the method of donation (no payment details are held by us). For child sponsors, we may keep a record of any correspondence sent via us to your sponsor child. 

We collect your personal information when you provide it to us directly or when you provide permission to other organisations to share it with us (including Facebook). Please do not provide your personal data to us if you are not happy for us to process this information in accordance with this privacy policy.

How do we use this information?

Sometimes, we will process your personal data to provide you with information about our work or our activities that you have requested or are expecting. For example, we will normally send out trip reports and updates several times a year to report on progress at Lesedi. Additional updates may be provided to child sponsors. You can opt out of these at any time by contacting or by calling us on +44 (0)1442 827 500.

Sharing your information

We will not share, sell or rent your information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Where appropriate, we may provide details of your name, postal address and/or email to the school principal at Lesedi. Your email and postal address will only be shared with the school with your permission, to provide updates or correspondence from your sponsor child.

We only disclose information to third parties or individuals when obliged to by law, for purposes of national security, taxation and criminal investigations or if you have agreed that we may do so.

Where will we process your personal data?

We will mainly store, use and otherwise process your personal data within the UK. However some of your personal details may be held by one of the charity trustees, based in Zimbabwe, and also by the school principal at Lesedi. Please bear in mind that these persons are located outside the EEA and that Data Protection controls and regulations may not be as comprehensive as in the country where you live.

For the purposes of IT hosting and maintenance your information may be situated outside of the European Economic Area (EEA).

How do we protect your personal data?

Data security is of the utmost importance to us and we are committed to ensuring information we collect from you is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have appropriate measures and safeguards in place to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or loss.

Retaining your information

If you have consented to receiving communications from us we may continue to use your personal data for this purpose until you withdraw your consent or otherwise for as long as we reasonably consider your consent remains valid and effective.

What are your choices?

You can ask us what personal data of yours is being held or processed, for what purpose and to whom it may be or has been disclosed. We will respond to your request within one month and at no fee.

We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.
